Selected experience

Experience behind the advice.

I’ve helped teams innovate and deliver in very different settings: a large global organization, a mature product portfolio, and an early-stage startup.

Nielsen / NielsenIQ

Innovating within a large organization

Developed and prototyped early solutions within a large global organization, progressing to lead product management for category management solutions in North America. Built and sold the first iteration of a new approach to space-based insight delivery and integration.

Blue Yonder / JDA

Creating solutions & renewing a mature portfolio

As part of the Intactix leadership team, conceived, introduced, and grew new solutions while leading a substantial portion of the Category and Space Management portfolio. Directly drove a fourfold portfolio expansion and helped revitalize mature products, contributing to majority market share. Built innovative, award-winning teams with near-zero attrition.

RFSpot

Chief Product Officer · Early-stage startup

Led product and engineering at an early-stage startup, rapidly taking a robotic shelf-data collection solution into a live Walmart store for initial testing. It was the first deployment of its kind. Extended pilot testing to Tesco and The Home Depot.

Product & organizational transformation

Blackboard / Transact: Brought three acquired product organizations together around shared priorities and a common platform roadmap in a short period.

1010data: Rebuilt the product organization, established product direction and a SaaS roadmap, and delivered prototypes within 60 days.

Symphony RetailAI: Led a global product team across space and assortment planning and connected product and implementation teams for a Tier-1 retailer’s SaaS rollout.

Earlier in my career, I taught at Arizona State University for six years. Today, I advise through ComTask, the firm I founded in 2016. Its guiding message, “Tomorrow’s Solutions Today,” reflects my focus on helping teams prepare for what’s coming.

How I work

Start with the market.
Stay close to execution.

For me, being an agent of change means recognizing what could matter next and starting the work early. My experience includes helping shape solutions in space management, assortment, and insight distribution, followed by early work in robotic data collection, image recognition, and analytics. The goal is to connect that potential with customer needs and give teams a direction they can act on.

That means asking practical questions: What problem matters? Where can we differentiate? What should we prioritize? And what must happen for customers to adopt the solution?

I bring people together around a clear direction and help establish the tools, support, trust, and ownership they need to act. That creates room for teams to innovate and deliver beyond their initial expectations. At Blue Yonder/JDA, building innovative teams and expanding the portfolio went hand in hand.

Industry contributions

The thinking behind the work.

ARS²™ Framework

I created ARS² to help retailers, CPGs, and solution providers evaluate whether solutions can deliver accurately, repeatedly, at scale, with speed.

It brings a practical structure to conversations about readiness, evidence, and adoption.

Innovating Category Management

My independent writing examines category management, robots in retail, leadership, and the decisions that move promising solutions into everyday use.

The same practical perspective shapes both my writing and my advisory work.

Creator · Category management development

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Category Managers

I created this approach by bringing together the category management process and the principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, connecting the tools and soft skills needed for effective category reviews.

Industry dialogue,
speaking & moderation.

Through ECR CatManNetwork’s Tools & Technology Group, I lead and moderate discussions connecting solution providers with retail and CPG practitioners.

I also contribute through industry writing, executive discussions, and speaking engagements on product strategy, innovation, category management, AI, computer vision, and retail robotics.

Georges has been a “go-to” retail industry expert for me for many years. His knowledge of the latest trends and developments in retail tools and technologies is unmatched, in my opinion. I have tapped into his unique and insightful perspectives on many occasions over the years to support my ongoing effort to guide the evolution of Category Management business practices. His advice has always been accurate and practical.

Georges presented an excellent training session at our annual conference: 7 Habits of Highly Effective Category Managers (in collaboration with the FranklinCovey Institute). This was one of Georges many above-and-beyond efforts to share his expertise and reflects his ability to lead and develop product team members. Thank you, Georges, for making this freely available to our international community.

I know George for over ten years and I value his knowledge and integrity. We have been colleagues, partners and competitors. George brings great value to the organizations he is working for and his ideas are ahead of the market.

Georges has the ability to understand and set the vision at a very senior level, but has the wherewithal to communicate on the tactical and executional levels as well.

George is a visionary, capable of conceptualizing ideas that set him apart. Somehow he manages to resonate client requirements on a whole different level; ideas that are well in advance of any competitor. George is extremely enthusiastic about any endeavor he pursues; this rubs off on the team he manages as well as his peers. He is a great team player, always looking out for others. He is a dedicated manager able to enthuse and excite his team into wanting to perform to the best of their ability.

He helped drive the roadmap and long-term vision for the entire suite. It is a pleasure to work alongside George.

George is a leader with a great vision. His foresight and experience in Category Management with deep technical background helped us bring new solutions to the market in a short time. His management style promoted consensus and ownership among team members. George has the ability to look at the big picture (Big rocks as he puts it) and explain a complex problem in simple terms to bring everyone on board. I learned a great deal working for George close to 10 years.

Thank you for your support and mentorship.

In his work he demonstrates strong leadership and clear Vision that helps him to transform complex ideas into actual products. I am always impressed with his ability to navigate rough water with a calm, and laser sharp focus. it is insightful to learn from him and his projections on upcoming trends and Technologies.

Georges’ strength lies in his realization that for a product to succeed it needs to get to market quickly, at minimum expense, and that it needs to meet the market’s needs from the outset. He knows how to structure, build and motivate teams to maximize their potential to innovate and deliver. Georges has developed a skill set that in my estimation makes him one of the best product leaders I have encountered.
